Tests we use fall into the following categories

  • We have available to us a range of testing that we can apply to understand what imbalances in gastrointestinal health may be affecting not just your gut health and related symptoms, but other disease states which are affected by our gastrointestinal health.

    Testing can help us to identify;

    • Gastrointestinal inflammation- Sufficiency of digestive enzymes

    • Dysbiosis (imbalance in the ecology of the bacteria that reside in the gut)

    • Presence of pathogenic yeasts, moulds, bacteria, parasites- Gastrointestinal autoimmunity

    • Future GI disease risk- SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)

  • Maybe you just want to understand your nutritional status and know which food or supplements you need to be focussing on so you aren’t wasting money on nutrients that your body doesn’t require you to supplement. Or you are suffering from a specific health issue and need to know if there are any deficiencies which are a causative factor or are mediating this.

    We have the tests available to give you the answers you are looking for to enhance your wellness and that will allow you to apply a very personalised and targeted approach to health.

    We can test for;

    • Individual nutrient status such as Vitamin D

    • Multiple nutrients specific to a disease state

    • Full nutrient analysis which will evaluate all vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids (EFA’s) and antioxidants

  • In today’s world we face daily environmental chemical inputs to our bodily systems through food, water, air, cleaning products, hygiene products, and materials in the home, along with naturally occurring moulds and mould toxins.

    Functional testing can help us to identify your levels of exposure and body burden of toxins which can help us to understand if these are contributory factors in your health concerns.

    Toxins we analyse using testing include;

    • Petrochemical toxins

    • Chemicals within plastics

    • Heavy metals

    • Chemicals found within our homes, body products and cleaning agents

    We can also evaluate how effectively your body is dealing with and detoxifying environmental toxins, and which areas of our detox processes are to working effectively to clear to toxins and chemicals to which we are exposed. Our bodies also have to detoxify naturally produced endogenous toxins, which if processed ineffectively may cause significant health impacts. A typical example is our bodies’ need to detoxify and process its own hormones.

  • We can really personalise our approach to your health using genetic testing. This helps us to understand how your genes are playing a role in your health. From genetic SNPs that may determine your effectiveness at utilising specific nutrients, to those which can impact the way in which you metabolise your food and use it for energy, to your likelihood of developing specific health disorders, genetic testing can give us that missing piece of the puzzle.

    Genetic testing can help us to piece together an optimal dietary plan for you, and really personalise any protocol that we put in place together.

    Our chosen lab for genetic testing is Nutrigenomics and their test kits help us understand how genes impact weight loss and body composition, nutrient metabolism, food intolerance and eating habits, important for health and wellness, athletic performance and fertility.

  • From full white blood cell differentials to screening for autoimmune antibodies, the testing we apply to our client cases at the Surrey Centre for Nutrition allows us to understand all aspects of immune functioning, and can guide us as to areas of immune imbalance which we can then target with our nutritional and lifestyle protocols.

    Our most comprehensive testing identifies multiple autoimmune reactivities, whereas we can also test for autoimmunity to specific bodily systems, and specific to certain disease states such as diabetes and gastrointestinal autoimmunity.We also offer a full spectrum of reactivity screening. We are sure most people have heard of food intolerance testing, well here at the Surrey Centre for Nutrition, we have selected the most comprehensive and reliable tests available.

    Not only do we evaluate your reactivity to foods but we can also do so for chemicals and pathogens such as viruses and bacterial infections. In the most complex of client cases these tests are fundamental in determining an appropriate protocol, and for us to be able to personalise our approach to each client.

  • Hormone testing can serve a variety of needs, and as such there are a huge variety of hormone tests available to us. We have a selection of preferred tests that our practitioners use most frequently that can look at;

    • Adrenal stress hormones

    • Thyroid hormones

    • Female sex hormones

    • Male hormones

    These tests can help us to understand how your body is producing hormones in relation to a number of different health concerns ranging from infertility and female reproductive issues such as PCOS and POI, male andropause, female menopause and all manner of thyroid and adrenal disorders such as adrenal insufficiency and both hypo and hyperthyroidism.

  • It is important not to overlook the fundamentals of health and our lifestyle blood tests give us a great insight into overall wellness. These tests can be targeted to specific requirements with the ability to add in or take away specific markers or groups of markers depending on the needs of each clients case. These tests can unlock so much important information into your health. Whatever your health concerns or wellness goals there are functional diagnostic lifestyle blood tests that will provide invaluable information.
